Kristy Packer has been a Youth Development Specialist at Alameda County Office of Education since mid 2017. As a Youth Development Specialist, Ms. Packer supports middle school and high school students and adults in four California Unified School Districts -- Fremont, Newark, Castro Valley and Livermore -- in anti-tobacco peer-led youth programs (TUPE). In this roll, Ms. Packer co-trains the students and adults in ten districts within the TUPE consortium. In the 2018–2019 school year, Ms. Packer co-trained over 700 Peer Educators. In addition, Ms. Packer runs and coordinates the countywide Youth Advisory Board and works with her team to hold four major conferences in the Bay Area: the Nor-Cal Safe and Healthy Schools Conference, the Teens Tackle Tobacco Conferences for middle school and high school students, and the Youth to Youth Conference.

 

Ms. Packer’s career has taken her into work focused on the education and the empowerment of youth, including being a Mental Health Counselor in a Mild to Moderate Special Education class, a respite care provider and a teacher’s assistant in a preschool. She has over ten years of experience working in education and working with children/youth of all ages. 

 

Ms. Packer holds a BA in Sociology: Women, Gender and Sexuality Student, focused on topics such as: Global Women, LGBTQI+ Studies, Masculinities and Femininities, Sexualities, and Sexualities and the Body.
